August with Lensbaby Challenge with Holly Awwad

In August, I was excited to host a 30 Days with Lensbaby Challenge with The Framed Focus. This month-long project aimed at pushing creative boundaries and mastering our Lensbaby lenses. Lensbaby is known for their distinctive lenses optics that produce dreamy, artistic effects. But they do come with a learning curve, as they are fully manual and require patience to master.

What Are Lensbaby Lenses and Optics?

For those of you who may be unfamiliar, Lensbaby lenses and optics are designed to help artists explore their creativity by helping them achieve different creative effects in-camera. Each lens allows for manual adjustments to achieve creative effects that make your images stand out.
Because Lensbaby lenses are manual focus, they require more attention and practice than automatic lenses. However, this challenge is what makes them so rewarding to use. The initial difficulty of nailing focus and mastering the creative effects can feel daunting, but consistent use is key to overcoming that hurdle. Over time, you’ll gain a better understanding of how these lenses respond to light, movement, and your creative vision.

Unlocking Your Lensbaby: Skills & Creative Practice!

The learning curve with Lensbaby lenses is real, but that's part of the magic. With regular practice, you can unlock your full creative potential. The manual focus encourages photographers to slow down and be more intentional about their compositions. Whether you’re shooting landscapes, portraits, or macro subjects, these lenses challenge you to experiment and think outside the box.
