52 Clicks 2025 Project Wrap Up

Our 2025 Project 52 (52 Clicks) is wrapping up, and we wanted to look back on the year and celebrate the growth and hard work of those who participated. No matter how long they stayed in the project (a full year, several months, or just a few weeks) it’s something to be proud of. Projects like this often feel intimidating in the beginning when the year stretches out ahead of you, but reaching the end allows us to pause, look back, and reflect on what the experience truly offered.

We asked our P52 students to select a favorite image from their 2025 project (not an easy task). We wanted to peek into their thought process and find out why that image stood out or what the project came to mean to them. This post is a reflection of the impact photography projects can have, especially when they’re experienced alongside a supportive community.

If you’re looking for a similar experience in 2026, I’d love to have you join us as we begin the new year with a brand-new theme schedule and fresh prompts!

Angie Mahlke @angie_mahlke

Prompt: Golden Hour. My favorite from this year is from a September evening when my daughter and I went out adventuring together. The older she gets, the less excited she is to go on photo adventures with me. But this night she was very into it and we had lots of fun. For this particular image, we had to race the setting sun and we still laugh at how I nearly died to get to this spot in time. We spent a lot of time here and I was able to check a lot of themes off the list, which is my preferred way of approaching the project. Without this p52, I'd probably go months and months without picking up my camera, and I wouldn't have these fun memories either.”

Becky Wilde @walkofthewilde

Prompt: Golden Hour. My favorite from the project this year is my image for the golden hour theme. Not shocking, I know, although my dramatic light image is a very close second. I’ve printed them both to hang in my house. I challenged myself to shoot this whole project along the lakeshore area, which was a fun but hard twist. It got me thinking about all the ways I can look at similar views but create different things from them. Looking at my p52 grid, I see so many different perspectives, angles, colors, and lighting. A good exercise to get me to continually find new ways to shoot the spots that I frequently visit.”

Sarah VanHook @sarah_vanhook.jpg

Prompt: Surrealism. I had a lot of favorite images this year from 52 clicks but this one from the surrealism prompt tops them all. I love how this group pushes me to create and try new methods. I also love how much it keeps me engaged with my camera”

Louise Harmston @louiseharmston

Prompt: Elements: Earth. My favourite image from the project this year is the one I took for the Elements - Earth theme. When I knew this theme was coming up I had a vision in my head to take a photo like this of my daughter surrounded by all these beautiful green ferns. I'm glad this project gave me the motivation to get outside in nature and bring my vision to life.

Diana Johnson @dianaljohnsonphotography

Prompt: Center Composition. What I love about this project is that every theme,no matter how simple, becomes a chance to get creative. Center composition could’ve been straightforward, but instead I used it to explore something different. I really enjoy that each week brings a new challenge and a new way to stretch how I see and make images.”

Frances Terlich @francesterlich365

Prompt: Golden Hour. Couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled across this sky. I really wanted to get a hay bale shot this year. Every week I think oh dear, what will I create for this theme. But every week I come up with something. I’m so grateful that the community is soooo good. Otherwise I would totally give up altogether. I love the p52, because it helps me to try new creative techniques that I would otherwise not bother to look into. It’s also so much easier that a 365. It helps me understand light and colour and perspectives too.”

Shannon Denise @shannynanners

Prompt: Elements: Water. This one was my favourite. It was for the theme "Elements: Water". What I enjoy about the P52 is that it helps me to see things more creatively or more minutely beyond the typical day-to-day pov we usually see.”

Lisa Edney @ledneyphotography

Prompt: Atmospheric. My favorite from the year… week 44 atmospheric. This was a new technique for me and bringing this image to life was challenging and fun!!

Advice: Lean into each week’s theme and embrace imperfections. A vision will not always materialize the way you imagined, and sometimes the unexpected frames become the ones that stay with you.

And don’t forget, the journey and the people who show up for it give this whole project its heart, just as much as the final frame. Thanks for creating an amazing community, Angie!”

Colette Nederhoff @cohappinest

Prompt: Layering. One of my favorites of this year combined travel memories and the theme. This Layering photo had lots of fun elements telling the story. This photo from Las Vegas documented a fun trip. I like the weekly challenges and especially if I am combining them with travel as it gives me a new "eye" to look for as I am on the trip.”

Misty Schuetz @mmistyd
“Prompt: Surrealism. I had a couple of images I am proud of, but if I had to pick one it would be my surrealism image. This one took me out of my comfort zone and into photoshop. This is a combination of 3 images and while it’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, my son loved it. I love that I challenged myself to do something new!’

Emma Challinor @emmachallinorphotography

Prompt: Complementary Colour. I love this piece of street art in Marlow and had it in the back of my mind to use it in a photograph one day, but I love how it came together on this particular occasion.

It was complementary colour week and I didn’t have a clue what my photo would be. I picked JJ up from a party and he had a green balloon- I started thinking about how I could pair the balloon with something red and then we drove past this graffiti… so I pulled over. I remember thinking, at first, “oh it’s a bit random he’s dressed in that skeleton outfit” but when he walked onto the street, I realised it was perfect: both he and the girl are black and white, with the only colour in their balloons. Hers is floating away while his drags along the floor. It all just kind of worked together!

The thing I’ve found with the p52 is: some weeks the theme just emerges naturally while you’re shooting, on other weeks you really have to plan it or work hard for the shot, and sometimes it feels like your photograph is a gift from the photography gods. This was one of those serendipitous weeks and I love the outcome! JJ wanted to wear that skeleton outfit constantly for two or three months this year and he’s in a part of my town that I love, so it’s a special image to me.”

Holly Awwad @hollynicoletimekeeper

"Prompt: Juxtaposition. I love how this prompt really made me think and helped me tell such a familiar story that I think is very relatable. The payphone is right next to them, a relic that used to keep us connected, while my kids stand beside it completely absorbed in their phones. They’re standing close enough to touch, yet completely disconnected from each other. Technology connects us instantly, constantly, but scenes like this make me wonder what slips away in the process, and how often we’re together without really being with one another.”

Jess Riley @jess_rileyphotos

Prompt: Props. This year my favourite challenge on my list of shots to try was a self portrait taken with my Lens Baby Sol45. I knew that getting the focus just right in my small room with a manual focus lens would be difficult so I was really happy with how this turned out! (There were many outtakes!) I loved using my favourite colour combo - orange and teal, and it was fun spraying some glass with water to see what effects it would create with the Sol lens. It was a bonus that Cooper jumped in my shot too as I don't have many photos with just us two together!”

Cindy Borbridge @seasaltphotographybc

Prompt: Storytelling. My favourite image of the year came from the Storytelling theme, Layering. I know layering is a simple concept, one I have done before but a light bulb went off for me that week reading all the material and seeing everyone's amazing layering images. Since then, layering is something I actively look for, and I believe it's helped my photography grow this year.”

Casey Ladisa @chaoticblissphotos

Prompt: Scale. My favorite is from the week where we had scale as our theme. This is a favorite of me and my youngest and I wouldn’t have taken my drone out that day if not for the p52. But I knew I needed to get scale so threw it in the car and had my daughter and I stop on the way to pick up her siblings from school.”

Carol Bisley @cbiz_photos

Prompt: ForcedPerspective. I am going with my forced perspective photo because it challenged me a lot. I felt that this was the moment that could have unravelled me and prevented me from delivering each week because I would have been stuck, but instead on posting day itself I suddenly got this one! And actually I loved it, and so did my son.
My advise is push yourself only as far as you know you can go without throwing in the towel … and remember to be as encouraging to yourself as others are to you. We can be our own worst critics and so hard on ourselves, choose rather to celebrate your individuality and style.”

Rachel Hudson Field @rshf_photography

Prompt: Rule of Space. My favourite from this year is this one of my son running in Tate Modern. I’ve wanted to take a shot using the sunshine streaming in from the windows for ages but either the light or the timing kept not working out. Finally I persuaded the kids down to the gallery, and let them play around while I shot well over 100 photos. When I reviewed them this one stood out to me as it captured a lot of what I’ve been working on this year - light, faceless, street, documentary and a happy child.”

Stacy Millberg @bellagracephotography

Prompt: Forced Perspective. My favorite photo from this project turned out to be my forced perspective shot. This was one of the most challenging themes from this project but working with my daughter to get this shot was worth it. My advice is to keep going no matter what. This project has challenged me in so many ways and helped me grow as a photographer. I have attempted P52s in the past and never finished. Without this community I don’t think I would’ve completed it this year either.”

Edwina Moutray @e.m.images_

Prompt: Movement. There were many prompts that I enjoyed from 52clicks but I think one that I am drawn to is from Week 10: Movement. I really enjoyed experimenting with high and low key black and white, so I applied it to this image of sheep running down the track. You can really see the dust and it feels like the animals are going to run out of the frame. The p52 gives you a reason to try new things and look at your photography in different ways. I have certainly grown artistically from being part of this group!”

Isabella Oledzka @isabella.oledzka

Prompt: Textures (B&W Month). This one is special for me - I went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC (my hometown) and just observed, and let my eye lead me. I fell in love with the pattern the epic floor-to-ceiling atrium windows were making in the reflecting pool in the Egyptian wing. This photo also reminded me the power of and my love for black & white photography. My best friend even ended up printing this shot on a tote bag for me!

This project has helped me pick up my camera and get out there - which was my goal for the year. I knew that the best way to get better at photography would be to do more of it. And I couldn't have asked for a more supportive community to be part of for it!”

Dawn Johnson @dawnbjohnson2

Prompt: Juxtaposition. This is from "juxposition." I wanted to compare myself side by side to when I was younger. I have been playing around with different editing apps. My advice would be to document how and where you created something if you wanted to recreate something similar in future.”

Aimee Garrity @aimee_lynn_photography

Prompt: Scale. I chose it because I try to bring awareness to people about spiders. About how important they are and to spare them when seen. I know my cute little friends have helped many. I am proud to be their advocate.
This project is so helpful to keep my creativity flowing. The community is so supportive and aw inspiring. I look forward to the challenges ahead because I know I have a group of friends who are there to bounce ideas off of etc.”

Brittney Fort @britt.fort

Prompt: Blue Hour. I love skies and silhouettes! I chose Blue Hour for my favorite.”

Anna Guðnadóttir @agiceland

Prompt: Framing. New year, same favorite project. Entering Year 7 with Angie and feeling more inspired than ever. This remains the main reason I pick up my camera, and I’ve learned that the key to sticking with it is making it work for me.
I love the freedom of shooting weeks in advance to keep the pressure low, but I’m not above a ‘day-of’ shoot when needed.
The best part is easily the weekly loop—having a supportive community and that extra bit of accountability makes all the difference. Excited to see what next year brings!”

Monica McLean @monicamclean_365

Prompt: Atmospheric. I have a few favorites from the project but this one for ATMOSPHERIC was really fun to get creative in camera. I used a filter from my Polaroid that I taped into my iPhone lens. I just love when I can create with less things and try to create a mood. It’s been fantastic being a part of this amazing creative group. Even that I join later I has helped me tremendously on becoming a better photographer. Thank you Angie Mahlke and so excited for 2026!’

Joyce Muezers @momentsbyjoyce

Prompt: Shadows (BW Month). This became my favorite because of how everything came together so naturally. My oldest, myself in the shadow, the story of past and future meeting in one frame. What once was, what is, and what might be: all connected through light, memory, and imagination. It feels deeply personal and symbolic, and I love how one image can hold so many layers of meaning. A huge thank you to Angie Mahlke for making this weekly project happen. I’ve truly loved being part of this community and pushing myself creatively each week. The connections, the inspiration, and the photos I created along the way mean so much to me.”
