52 Clicks | Week 36 | Analogous Colors

Using color psychology in your photography is great way to create emotionally impactful images. Knowing the emotional meanings of specific colors is important when using them intentionally. The analogous color scheme creates a sense of calmness with its lack of contrast. This is from using three or more colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel. Using warm or cool colors determines the emotional impact (warm = energy / cool = tranquility).

Do you gravitate toward the complementary or analogous color scheme in your work?

As always, the open invitation to join our group remains. We'd love to have you.

52 Weeks | Week 38 | Analogous Colors

52 Clicks | Week 38 | Analogous

Our Project 52 moved onto the analogous color scheme in our month of color. If you're unfamiliar with this term, it refers to the colors touching on the color wheel, like blues and greens or yellows and oranges. These color combinations are oftentime harmonious, and they evoke specific emotions based on whether they're warm or cool in temperature.

The p52 participants used this color scheme thoughtfully, and I am yet again in awe of their creativity.

52 Clicks | Week 42 | Analogous Colors

Last week in our Project 52, we moved on to analogous colors - the three colors next to each other on the color wheel.

We struggled with whether our colors were truly analogous, and Abi Coop shared a trick on how to check your colors by uploading an image in the Adobe Color website.

Check out some of the participants' images from week 42 of our p52. What sort of vibe do you get? Analogous colors are known for their calming aesthetic since they lack the contrast we see with complementary colors.
