From Stills to Motion - A Photographer's Guide to Video
Many of us start with photography, capturing beautiful moments through the lens, but then the question arises – "What about video? Where do I begin? How do I handle the footage? What about editing, storytelling, selecting clips, gear requirements, and more?"
Well, wonder no longer! This course is designed to guide photographers, like Laura, through the transition into the world of video. Led by Nicholas Froese, a videographer with over 20 years of experience, this course follows Laura's journey into this new medium. Join them, together, while Laura delves into videography, documenting their family adventures, and asking Nicholas a myriad of questions - even the silly ones - so you don’t have to!
This course focuses heavily on storytelling - both shooting and editing with a larger narrative in mind. We use Premiere Pro to edit, but the principles can be applied to any editing software.
Topics covered include:
Setting up your DSLR or mirrorless camera for video;
All that extra gear (and do I really need it?);
How to shoot for story and have it flow in a beautiful narrative;
The basics of editing, from technique to practical suggestions to help your story flow;
Delving deeper into editing and special effects;
The art of clip selection; and
Audio, export settings, and more!
And yes, we include bloopers, too ;)
In this course, you will receive the following:
63-page downloadable e-book
Instructor introduction video (I promise, it's hilarious)
3 instructional videos covering setting up your camera, gear, and looking at how to shoot a scene for story
5 editing videos covering everything from opening your program to exporting a finished product
5 BONUS videos covering:
Slow motion;
A complete family day-in-the-life video;
The sped-up, full edit of that video;
The full, uncut footage demonstrating filming a family making cookies; and
How to set up a gimbal.

What people are saying…
“TAKE. THIS. COURSE. When I started, I had never used anything other than my iPhone for video, and, naturally, those were a bazillion random clips that looked like garbage doing absolutely nothing but just sitting on my phone. I also had never even thought about creating footage, editing, compiling clips, or any of the technical elements that go along with shooting video (stabilization, audio, etc.). Nick and Laura cover IT ALL, and in a way that's engaging, funny, and helpful! They were able to teach in a week or two what would have otherwise taken me years to figure out on my own. The PDF gives you a great baseline to start, and it's complemented with SO many amazing videos to dive more deeply into each of the concepts.The course is really comprehensive, so you can cater your learning to whatever you're ready to take on-- just the basics or a really in-depth understanding of the whole process.
Starting from "Uh...What do I push?", I left the class feeling confident and competent to create beautiful, fun films of my family, and maybe even clients someday... and all in a week or two! I feel inspired and excited about this whole new skillset and the artistic possibilities that go with it!” ~ Erin
